Grading Policies...

It is possible to accumulate as many as 370 points in this class. Earning a good grade will be dependent on your work ethic and dedication, combined with your ability to manage time.

As outlined elsewhere, poor attendance habits or an inability to meet deadlines will drastically affect your grade, but, in general, the following scale will be used:

333-370.................................................A

296-332.................................................B

259-295.................................................C

222-258.................................................D

221-BELOW.........................................F

Please note that this scale is tentative. I reserve the right to add, delete or substitute assignments as needed. Additionally, should I opt to include unannounced quizzes over the reading material, the above scale will obviously no longer apply. In such cases, a new scale will be issued.

GRADE COMPLAINTS. If you cannot resolve a problem over a grade you have received, you may write to Dr. Paul Smeyak, Director of the School of Journalism and Broadcasting, who will appoint a committee of three faculty members to consider the complaint.

WITHDRAWAL POLICY. The University’s withdrawal (drop) policy is outlined in the current OSU Catalog and the 1998 Summer Schedule.

SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS FOR STUDENTS. If you feel that you have a disability which requires special assistance of any nature, please visit with me immediately. We will work with the Office of Disabled Student Services, 326 Student Union, to provide reasonable accommodations to ensure a fair opportunity to perform in this class. It is ultimately your responsibility to advise me of any disability and desired accommodations at some point before, during or immediately after the first class period.
